I am a West Coast Canadian who, through some interesting and challenging experiences, made my way to East Coast United States so I could meet Kirsten and start our family! My background is in finance, accounting, and consulting. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the University of Lethbridge (Alberta, Canada) and an Master of Business Administration in Project Management from the University of Mary Washington (Virginia, USA). I have worked in both the public and private accounting sector and in the field of education. Throughout my career, I have managed hundreds of millions of dollars of budget, reconciled accounts with efficiency and ease, and received rewards for leadership, management, and employee empowerment. I have mentored employees which resulted in promotions and consulted families and businesses and improved their financial situation. Some of my other qualifying achievements are:
- I was able to catch a previously overlooked business loss and get a construction company a $20,000 tax refund.
- Through a profitability analysis, I saved an oil company $50,000 in business auditing fees.
- By looking through previous personal returns, I have been able to get clients back, collectively, over $250,000 in tax refund.
- By changing business entity tax structures to S-Corp, I have helped small businesses save, collectively, over $125,000 tax liability from the previous year.
- Through employee empowerment, I upgraded a nationwide university campus from the lowest performing campus to the highest performing one (through internal business metric measures).
